Who owns the Texas electricity comparison sites
Several of the best-known Texas electricity comparison sites are owned by companies that also own retail electricity providers whose plans appear in their results. That is documented in regulatory filings and in the companies’ own words, and a shopper deserves to know it before deciding how much weight to put on a ranking.
Nothing on this page alleges that any of these sites ranks its corporate siblings favorably. We have not audited their results and make no claim about them. The point is narrower and, we think, harder to argue with: when a comparison site and a retailer share an owner, that is a fact a shopper should be given rather than left to discover, and it is a fact each of these sites’ ranking asks you to trust it about.

EnergySavings.com is owned by Just Energy
- Retail provider brands under the same owner
- Just Energy, Tara Energy, Amigo Energy
The site’s own footer states that it is operated by Interactive Energy Group LLC, “a Just Energy company.” Just Energy’s subsidiary schedule filed with the SEC lists Interactive Energy Group alongside the Texas retailers Tara Energy and Amigo Energy, and an Ontario court filing from the group’s restructuring describes Interactive Energy Group as an indirect, wholly owned subsidiary of Just Energy (U.S.) Corp.

One company can appear as several retailers
The same corporate structures show up inside the plan data itself. Just Energy, Tara Energy and Amigo Energy are listed as separate retailers on Power to Choose, and all three are named as Just Energy subsidiaries in the SEC filing linked above. This is legal, disclosed and ordinary. It is also invisible on a results page that shows you three logos and lets you assume they are three companies competing.
What was left off this page
Claims we could not source cleanly are not here. Corporate ownership in retail energy changes hands often, through acquisitions and restructurings, and a chain that was true in a filing three years ago is not automatically true today. Where a relationship was only asserted in a directory listing or a competitor’s marketing, we left it out rather than publish it with a hedge.
And who owns this site
BillTruth is held to the same standard it applies above. It is owned by no energy company, no retail provider and no generator, and it is not affiliated with the Public Utility Commission of Texas or Power to Choose. It earns affiliate commissions when somebody signs up for a plan through a link here, which never changes your price and never changes the order of the results — the ranking is computed from the arithmetic before anyone is paid anything. More on who runs it is on the about page, and the arithmetic itself is on the methodology page.
